Synopsis
Singer Joey Evans has big dreams to own his own night club. When rich widow, Vera, falls for him, he knows he has it made. Only problem? He’s falling in love with someone else.
The Players
Frank Sinatra
I have to start out by saying that I adore Frank, but honestly, this character is kind of an ass. I even read that he toned it down for the movie. Apparently, the character was worse. Sure, in the end he does the right thing, but he’s a player. Despite that, The Voice sings some great songs including, “The Lady is a Tramp” and “I Could Write a Book.”
Kim Novak
Even though her dubbed singing voice isn’t great(seriously would have liked to know what her actual singing voice sounded like), I really like Kim in this. She presents a pretty strong character and at least takes a while to succumb to Joey’s charms.
I don’t quite understand why the fancy club Joey is trying to create would even have a strip number, but this is kind of a fun scene with Kim.
Rita Hayworth
So Rita was in her late 30’s here and the pinned up hair almost the entire movie makes her look old. The only scene where she really looks like herself to me is this one..

Why You Should Check it Out
Not a stellar plot, but it has some fun music. If you want to see Frank and Kim together in a better, but also heavier, movie, check out The Man with the Golden Arm.
What’s in it for Kids
There’s a little white puppy who dunks a bagel in a mug full of coffee. My daughter loves puppies!
