Kids and Baking Series-Daniel Tiger Mozies

Recently PBS dropped some new Daniel Tiger episodes. (Were you as excited as me because it gave you a break from the episodes you’ve seen a million times?) One of them featured spending time with a grandparent, so Daniel went to Jodie Platypus’ house to bake with her and her Nana.

They made something called Mozies, which I’d never heard of, but, of course, then my daughter wanted to make. PBS anticipated this because they provided a recipe. Good job, PBS! It’s really easy too and they’re pretty tasty, though because of the banana don’t keep well. You need to eat them within about a day.

Our Mozies!

Ingredients

1 banana, mashed

1/2 cup plus 1/8 cup oats

2 tsp honey

1/4 cup shredded unsweetened coconut

1/8 cup mini chocolate chips

1/4 raisins, which we omitted cause we don’t have any and they still turned out just fine!

Directions

– Preheat oven to 350

– Mash banana

– Mix everything together

– Roll into 1 inch balls (will be super gooey!)

– Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. The directions called for a greased cookie sheet, but I recommend using parchment paper. Much faster clean-up.

– Bake 12-15 min. Cookies should be firm to the touch

– Leave on pan for 5 min and then finish cooling on a plate with paper towel. This will help with excess moisture (again – bananas).

– Eat same day/ within 2 days. Can be stored in airtight container at room temp.
