Announcing the 1st Annual Spooky Classic Movie Blogathon

There are plenty of movies from the classic era that are spooky and good to watch as a Halloween treat! I wanted to highlight these films and help provide people with some new ideas for films they can enjoy!

This picture is from my subject, Blithe Spirit, with Rex Harrison, Kay Hammond and Constance Cummings (not pictured).

The rules are pretty simple. Pick a movie between 1920 and 1960, or there about, that is Halloween-related or spooky. No duplicates. There are plenty to choose from!

Please post your entry between October 28th and October 31st

Grab the banner and let’s have some fun!

Make sure to subscribe or follow, so you don’t miss announcements!

I will create a new post at the start of the blogathon to link entries! Comment there with your link.

        1. I’m planning on going through the questions and getting the post up later this week! I needed to get through the Peter Lawford Blogathon stuff I wanted to do this weekend and now I’ll be able to do this! 🙂

  1. Hi! This sounds like fun. I found you in a roundabout way through Hamlette’s Soliloquy.

I have to write for “Arsenic and Old Lace.” One of the best spooky movies of all time, and set on Halloween which is just perfect!

  2. Dear Kristen,

I would love to join this blogathon! My name is Tiffany Brannan. I would like to write about “I Married a Witch” from 1942. I’m curious to know from what film the picture at the top of this post comes!

By the way, I’d like to invite you to join my upcoming blogathon, the Joe Pasternak Blogathon (https://pureentertainmentpreservationsociety.wordpress.com/2020/08/21/announcing-the-joe-pasternak-blogathon/). It’s a celebration of the many wonderful films, particularly musicals, produced by Joe Pasternak during his long career. We would be honored if you could join. We could really use your talent!

    Yours Hopefully,

    Tiffany Brannan

    1. Hi Tiffany!
So glad to connect with you! You got it! I’ll put you down for I Married a Witch.
I’m sorry I forgot to note the film with the picture. It’s from Blithe Spirit (1945) that I’ll be writing about!

Thanks for inviting me to your blogathon. I have something in mind and will comment over there 🙂

  3. The best horror movies came out in the 70’s, in my opinion. But the drive-in theaters did have a few good horror movies as early as the late 50’s. I’m thinking about a double feature “I Was a Teenage Werewolf” and “I Was a Teenage Frankenstein” both of which aimed at the then new audience of teenagers at the drive-in.

I am Quiggy and my website is “The Midnite Drive-In”

    1. Nice to connect, Quiggy! That sounds great! Thanks for participating. I get what you’re saying about the 70’s, but I wanted to focus a little earlier since those are the movies I tend to write about 🙂 Glad to have you!
